We’re back with another weekly installment of a Grafton #stayandplaymoment! Thanks for your patience. It’s been a busy last few weeks for us! This week, we’re talking about why Grafton is a perfect place for a low-key Spring Break vacation with your family. Here we go!

First things first, you gotta get to bookin your stay in Grafton! We have plenty of great options to choose from: Hampton Inn & Suites GraftonTownePlace Suites Grafton, and Comfort Inn and Suites Grafton. Each location offers either a pool, hot tub, or both, plenty of space for family and friends, and near wonderful locations for food options!

After securing your room accommodations, we suggest scoping out things to do while you’re here!

Did you know that Grafton has ties to blues music and its history? The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce offers walking tour maps of the Paramount Walking Tour. Stop in and get one! The walking tour begins at the marker for the Wisconsin Chair Company. Big names in music had their records “pressed” (manufactured) at this location. Ever heard of Louis Armstrong? He was one of the artists who has music pressed here! At the Falls Road Bridge you can see the old location of the Chair Company Foundation. At 1803 S. Green Bay Rd, you’ll find the recording studio that was used to record music by artists: Louis Armstrong, W.C. Handy, Fletcher Henderson, Gertrude “Ma Rainey,” and many more! The Paramount Walking Tour guides offer additional information about famous homes along the path to the studio, historical buildings in downtown Grafton, the Grafton Hotel, and the old Interurban Trail Railway that brought musicians to Grafton. The trail is now a paved trail spanning over 30 miles. Be sure to check out all the history Grafton has to offer!

Want to see what the views were like while riding the Interurban Railway back in the day? Walk, run, or ride the Interurban Trail! The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce also offers Interurban Trail maps. Stop in and get one today, or request to have one mailed to you by giving us a call at 262-377-1650.

Wrap up your tour of Grafton and its rich history by dining at the old Paramount Restaurant, which is now Atlas BBQ, or the old Grafton Family Restaurant, which is now Lobo’s Place Authentic Mexican Restaurant.

We hope you have a great time while you’re here in Grafton whether it’s a vacation or a staycation! For more information about Grafton, WI, and reasons to stay and play with us, please visit us at grafton-wi.org
